"feyd rautha-harkonnen"

NAME: Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.

HOUSE: Harkonnen.

APPEARANCE:
Feyd-Rautha has a round face framed by dark, brooding eyes. His pouty lips, unmistakably Harkonnen, contrast with the wild curls of dark hair that tumble across his forehead. Hasimir Fenring once noted Feyd’s unusually small feet. From an early age, he was raised for speed and agility, his lean, lithe build designed to outpace his foes. Feyd’s uncle, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, often reminded him that staying ahead of his enemies was the key to survival.

"A lean young man with sullen eyes and a round face." - Dune, Chapter Two.

PERSONALITY:
Feyd-Rautha is impatient and impulsive, demanding attention and hastening the course of events. Despite his quick temper, he adapts swiftly, choosing to conceal his thoughts until the moment he can make the most impactful impression - whether it be on his uncle or the twisted Mentat, Piter de Vries. Even in his youth, Feyd exhibits intelligence and cunning, qualities that his uncle values far more than brute strength, which his half-brother, Glossu Rabban, relied upon. Feyd’s natural charisma effortlessly wins others to his side, a trait the Baron plans to use when Feyd matures into a political weapon.

"He is young and clever. He could rule with a glove of silk as well as with a fist of iron." - Baron Harkonnen, Dune, Chapter Two.

BACKGROUND:
Born on Lankiveil to Emmi and Abulurd Rabban, Feyd-Rautha was named in honor of his maternal grandfather, Rautha Rabban. However, his life took a sharp turn when his brother Glossu sent him to Giedi Prime. There, under the watchful eyes of Baron Harkonnen, Feyd was raised in the image of his uncle’s ideals. Baron Harkonnen, believing Abulurd’s softer approach would hinder Feyd, erased ties to Feyd’s parents by changing his surname to Harkonnen.

"He is a dangerous tool... and the Baron means to use him well." - Duke Leto Atreides, Dune, Chapter Ten.

Immersed in the cruelty of Giedi Prime, Feyd quickly adopted Harkonnen traits: ruthless ambition and a drive to serve his own interests. He learned to move seamlessly among the nobility, while enduring brutal training in weaponry and combat that refined him into a lethal force. His mentor in political and mental strategy was none other than the sadistic Mentat, Piter de Vries.

From a young age, Feyd understood the importance of securing his uncle’s favor, knowing full well that disobedience could lead to exile - or worse. Nonetheless, Feyd often tested the Baron’s patience with assassination attempts that Vladimir Harkonnen saw through. These attempts were forgiven, however, as Feyd’s cunning proved too valuable to discard.

As Feyd grew older, he gained fame in the gladiator arenas of Harko. These staged battles, often against drugged slaves, showcased his prowess and solidified his reputation as a hero among the masses - a calculated move by the Baron to bolster Feyd’s political appeal.

"There is a terrible purpose in him." - Paul Atreides, reflecting on Feyd during their final duel, Dune, Chapter Forty-Eight.

Ultimately, Feyd’s ambition drove him to challenge Paul Atreides to a kanly duel in Arrakeen. The final move for power ended in his defeat and death at the hands of Muad'Dib.

FUN STATS.

Patience: Frays quickly when frustrated.
